Dear Harri,

The "verbal declaration" last week, labeled a Peace Summit, between Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian Authority head, Mahmoud Abbas, is a sham...it signifies a false peace, even though it promises a "fresh start" for the Israelis and the Palestinians. Abbas is not the first person to denounce terrorism. It has been tried dozens of times during the past, and has failed every time. Why? You cannot negotiate with murderers! Do you think for one moment that the U.S. would negotiate with the 9/11 terrorists?

Yasser Arafat denounced terrorism in 1988 at his press conference during the 43rd General Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. During that press conference, I confronted him to denounce the PLO Covenant which calls for the destruction of the Jewish State. He did not; neither has Abbas.

The root of this is Jew-hatred, and we must stand up to it. What took place at Sharm el-Sheik was not a peace conference; it was an "appeasement conference" designed to pacify Arab and EU rage. 

Hamas has been behind many of the most deadly attacks against Israel during the past four years. It is dangerous to tell 6 State Department-recognized terrorist organizations (Hamas, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, etc.) that the U.S. will negotiate with you. IT is equally dangerous to invite their representative to the White House, and to offer him $350 million. Now, the U.S. is demanding that Israel give many of the terrorists amnesty, and release them from jail.

This false "peace agreement" is a tactic that will buy time for the various militant groups in the PA and Syria to reorganize and re-arm.

Not only is this a false peace, it is a dangerous step for the Israeli government. It will achieve the following:


It creates media coverage for the terrorists;

It influences governments;

It is used to negotiate political concessions;

It is used to secure the release of political prisoners, i.e., terrorists.

It gives the terrorists time to regroup before launching the next wave of terror.
So far, all of the above have been achieved, or will be within days.

Abbas has requested that 350 terrorists involved in the killing of Jews be given unconditional amnesty, if they hand over their weapons. He also wants the 8000 terrorists involved in any violence against the Jewish people to be released. According to Abbas, suicide bombers are honorable, and on an equal playing field with the Israeli or U.S. military.

We urge you to appeal to President Bush to stop bigotry against the Jews. 

In Islamic countries, Jews are called "monkeys and pigs." They are defamed as the creators of AIDS, all wars, and all world problems. It is taught that Israel does not exist.

During his weekly sermon on February 3, Saudi cleric Musa al-Qarni, said, "The uproar and the chaos that we see today in the human race - the killing, the acts of aggression, the rape, the robbery, and the disgrace of honor - what causes this is that the banners which are hoisted high are those of the Jews, the Christians, and other religions and faiths, and not the banner of 'There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's messenger'... First of all, we must realize that Allah obligated us to disseminate this religion all over the globe...And Allah said, "Fight them until there is no more strife and Allah's religion reigns supreme."
